First Line Defense began with our own home in Topanga. We wanted to make it more resilient to wildfire. What sounded like a few straightforward improvements became a year-round job involving the house, the landscape, multiple trades, and the upkeep needed to make the work last. We realized our neighbors were being asked to manage that same complicated job on their own.

So we created First Line Defense to take it on. We provide turnkey wildfire resilience & mitigation services throughout the Santa Monica Mountains: assessing the property, designing the strategy, coordinating the work, documenting what was done, and maintaining the improvements.

We begin with Zone 0 and home hardening, then build the rest of the mitigation strategy around your property - adding layers of protection that work together to make the whole property more resilient.

There are reasons to act now. Many local homeowners face defensible space inspections and compliance deadlines, and certain wildfire mitigation improvements may qualify for insurance discounts. We help turn a daunting list of decisions into a clear path forward — and see the work through.
